DiC vs. Cloverway vs. Toei
Description: Description: Description: Description: LogoLogo.jpg
Altered, mangled, changed, these are just a few of the words used to describe what DiC and Cloverway did the English version of Bishojo Senshi Sailormoon.  If ever there was a poster child for the uncensored version of Sailormoon, then let this series be it!

Sailormoon was censored in North America by DiC between 1995-98 and by Cloverway from 1999-2000. The first 65 episodes of Sailormoon-Sailormoon R aired in syndication on local channels until 1997. On June 4th, 1997, Cartoon Network began airing Sailormoon on the Toonami block, right until 2002. In 2003 re-runs of the first season ran in the early afternoon for only 22 episodes. After that, Cartoon Network continued airing the three Sailormoon movies until June of 2004.

Despite a toy line aimed at girls ages 3-12 and a book line aimed at tweens, Sailormoon was originally aimed at young men, hence the amount of nudity and violence in the manga. Though the anime was toned down slightly, by US standards, the correct age group should be 13+ due to the content.
